I watched the film y'day.The film has a bit of a lag during the second half.There was a bit too much focus on the relationship between odiyan and prabha.The lust by ravunni for her drives the plot.I think that was a flaw.Odiyan itself was a magnificent concept.They could have introduced his character in a thrilling manner with an odividya.instead the character is shown as a feeble person who becomes odiyan when provoked only.For me that was a turn off.The story should have been rivalry between a odiyan victim family and odiyan.something like a supernatural horror.On the positive side first half was good with a thrilling action climax which maybe the real reason for the success.Mohanlal was indeed the best choice to play this challenging character.He was really good as the young and old manickyam, though sometimes the face looked plastic in the young avatar but he rocks the bearded look.He has definitely lost weight.Manju looked really pretty but she has done similar roles before.Sana did her role well.Prakash Raj was awesome except I wished he had dubbed.Photography was splendid especially action scenes and songs.Peter Hein deserves kudos for his action scenes, except it a little dark for my liking.In summary odiyan is definitely a one time must watch.Big applause for mohanlal for doing justice to odiyan.However the script was a slight let down, direction editing could have been better.The concept was really fasninating.They could have made it like a fantasy horror thriller.Odiyan will remain a landmark Malayalam movie.Do watch it once.
