When they don't make musicals like this anymore, it's nice to have one you can always come back to! Grew up with this film still have it on VHS it is one of my favorite musicals. I am very glad it was not made in this culture because they would have screwed it up to be completely honest. The quality of the cast, the score, and just the whole feel-good movie in itself is one that is still needed today. also it's based a on a short story. I keep seeing comments going it's highly unrealistic and I'm like it is a musical and to think it's unrealistic we forget that it probably could have happened in that time period so it's not that unrealistic. What I love it shows strong female women and also rugged men handling stereotypes of today in a way that unfortunately PC has forgotten or still want to keep bashing. such as male bashing in this PC world. in this film both show strengths. You get men who are used to roughing living off the land and being someone from a farm I very much enjoy that part what I also love that it shows not only are they manly in that aspect, they are also very manly doing it but also are still manly singing and dancing, also learning things from a sister and willing to learn. Since they've never had to learn and probably didn't seem the need to till someone else came into their lives. This also showing women in tough situations can still give men a hard time and a run for there money. Literally.while also showing both can learn from mistakes and yes it's our main older brother who learns of his mistake after becoming a father, it's still a very good show that I am very glad I am able to watch over and over again. let's not get started on the wonderful the choreography of this entire film being simply spectacular! as well as the singing being phenomenal. seriously 10/10
