This movie is not terrible, it features some things that I liked but its very jarring to go from TLJ to this, although the changes made I feel needed to happen to keep the goodwill of the fans. I don't think the problem with this trilogy in general is the lack of a roadmap, its the change of directors which each bring different ideas to the table and the reluctance to change the release date which gave JJ Abrams little time to make a fitting conclusion to this trilogy. Personally, if I could, I would give the film 2.5 stars, liked the other films in this trilogy, its a mixed bag, it has, in my opinion, a weak set up but a pretty engaging and interesting ending. The developments made in this film, which were established by TLJ, I also felt was natural and fitting but the film rarely acknoledges things happened by the TLJ which makes it feel less like a sequel and in turn takes alot away from the trilogy. The film overall, feels like it has a number of boxes which it needs to go through and check but in fairness the boxes can be checked in interesting ways.I believe Disney and Lucasfilm have learned their lesson from the mistakes made with this trilogy and when they decide to do another one, I think it will be given more care than this one.
