Brianna Smith

I wanted to love this show but 30 minutes in and I’m not super impressed. I love Yaya but her acting just seems a little underwhelming for this roll. How is she from Boston along with her daughter but have absolutely no accent, If you’re from Boston we can definitely hear it. Things are revealed too quickly, relationships start and end too quickly. I thought this show was going to give Greenleaf, Lynn Whitfield vibes and it tries but misses the mark. The whole we are black kings and queens, our hair is our crown narrative is forced and corny. POC don’t walk around announcing these things we just do/are. Everything seems so cliché and unnatural I am rooting for this show but as of yet it’s been a struggle.
