It's an interesting and captivating show, and I'm saying this after a lot of thinking and deliberation. If you're like me and are hard to impress, I'd ask you to not stop watching in the middle of the first episode. I know they take the first two episodes to hit their stride, but the payoff is worth waiting through the initial two hours of overtly artsy and almost pretentious level of sluggish scene progression and dramatic musical setups that lead nowhere. I took a one week break after 30 mins of the first episode. It turned me off, especially coming to it right after Doom Patrol's masterful narrative technique. But I came back and am seriously glad that I did.
However, and this is the disclaimer part that should have gone before, I have only watched 5 episodes till now. So that's 2 episodes where people stumble around or dance irrationally to one song after the other while the camera moves around all pseudo-artistic like, and 3 episodes I definitely enjoyed. My opinion might change after watching the rest of it. Still, why are number 1 and 2 so annoying and everyone in general so fragile? I understand if the intent is to show superheroes in a more humane light, as The Watchmen did...but then why show them use cool looking powers in flashbacks or non-combat scenarios when none of that power means anything the moment they come to blows with normal human beings? I really hope the plot is strong enough yo carry my interest throughout, else I shall change my review.
