As everyone has said; great visual effects ✔️ Plot; ok at first, then the monsters apear... The "scientific crew" and ships crew were about as disciplined as a room full of 14 year olds with no adult supervision, raging hormones, and anger issues. There terror was at first unknown - I thought this movie had a chance of some Halloween value. After the monsters... I have seen this same movie, different scenarios, at least 100 time! Tru Sci-Fi buffs shouldn't waste their time on this one! 👎👎

Probably the most true to form rendition of Dickenson's novella. Scott does an excellent portrayal, along with all of the cast.

I found this movie to be repetitive, sluggish, and quite frankly a boring flick. From almost the very beginning we could see that Tom was going to take the place of Jude Law's character. He had many opportunities to so without a brutal boat fight, ditto for his other eliminations of characters. Sloppy story and directing 👎👎. I do not recommend this movie to discerning viewers. How even Law was awarded an Oscar is beyond belief! Yes, he was a better actor but NOT the lead one. The remaining all are good but they failed miserably in lighting up the screen. After reading the various reviews, how did they possibly see the same movie that we did? If you want a film noir thriller, watch Hitchcock or some of the 1980's - 90's gems...

Great story, understated and complex; yet all the while not over the top. Acting was superb on the part of main characters as we were drawn into the their lives. Two thumbs up for script, directing and photography. Entertainment at its best. Really enjoyed the Russian version of "House of the Rising Sun"
