The overt sexual innuendos contradict the childlike innocence and charm that is reminiscent of the original. Throughout the movie they seem to push the boundaries in an effort to appeal to an adult audience - which isn't necessary as the older generation of viewers like myself would still watch for nostalgia's sake anyways.
A minor example, I was taken aback within the first few minutes when a character uses the initials "AF" in conversation. Throughout the movie there were other adult content references that completely contradict the feel good vibe of the original and are noticeable enough as to not simply go over a young child's head without question. There are more creative approaches to appealing to the older audience while still providing a family friendly movie. While I don't think anything in the movie was outright offensive on its own, it's not what I expected from this sequel title.
