This isn't top forty or dance music - "Filk" is music born from the traditions and styles of folk music, but written for or set in worlds of fantasy or science fiction (or, sometimes, our own world, but in a humorous way).
You'll find folk-style songs obviously inspired by stories like Star Trek or The Lord of the Rings, usually performed in a much more personal style, like you'd hear in a small venue, rather than studio recording sound. (Though, this album has pretty good studio production - many don't.)
Carmen Miranda's Ghost, named for the song by Leslie Fish, contains songs performed by both Fish, and Vic Tyler - and the distinctive sound of Leslie's 12-string guitar "Monster".
The stories told - because like much music, and perhaps more, folk songs are very often stories - are sometimes fun and humorous, but also, often, very serious and touching. I haven't listened to the album in several years now, and listening to it today, I find several of them still bring a tear to my eye.
