A trash movie selling infantile mentality to validate children where their feelings matter more than hard work, diligence, and maturity. Long gone are the classics about perserverence, kindness, honesty. Now the so-called protagonist just throws a tantrum and then gets handed the most powerful item.... just wish for it. "I want my dream so I should get my wish granted." Such an appalling message, hollow and revolting.

Supposed to be a grounded show or realistic take on mecha but stupid animu logic still drags it down, e.g. not briefing the newcomer on the size of the creature on his first day despite plenty of time sailing to the island, while waiting for a weapon charge up the pilot doesnt keep contract with the mech controls and crosses his arms while the monster continues raging, pilot opens the mecha hatch (coz curiosity??) before fully confirming giant creature is dead and not a threat; its just zero logic and convenient plot armour. Characters acting like low IQ "adults" that are meant to be interesting 'plot points', but just ends up being boring and uninspired. Characters sighing all the time like everything, including watching this series, is a chore. All side characters look exaggeratedly ugly.

I wanted to like it. It was disgusting. The family characters play a low-brow unintelligent cliche that prioritise making jokes than actually solving the situation. Pre-lay graduate drives his uncle's truck and happens to pick up the femme lead being chased by gunmen.... what does he do? Drives her right back to his own home. Both protagonists are simply too stupid to think that the megacorp can track him down just by the carplate number. Bravo. Uncle throws his shoe at the protagonist thinking it would activate the alien tech for a demonstration -- nope it just trashes the spice racks in the kitchen. Bravo. Now you have your filthy shoe on the kitchen countertop and more broken stuff. Revoltingly stupid.

Script and voice-acting was underwhelming, protagonist sounded more like a whiny teen throwing a tantrum about how he wants his pride and planet back without being realistic about the threats and resources. He seems to care more about his butt hurt ego and 'humanity' on this grandoise saviour-complex manner, but we dont see him interacting or caring about actual people; nor is the audience ever given a chance to feel any emotional attachment to the cast. Its as if all the other bland characters are just there so that he can throw another tantrum if they are "sacrificed". In contrast, at least Zilla tugged at my heartstrings when its babies were killed in the subway. So I'd rank this even lower than the Zilla film. Its just soulless saviour-complex, misunderstood young man, authority-defiant posturing.

I do not find this suitable for children to absorb mindlessly without proper discussion with adult guidance. The entire thing is very insensitive to their psyche. The father exists in most of the movie as a disembodied set of fleshed out legs, and children will naturally imagine the same decapitated look of their own family members, even if for the briefest of moments. The pixies are fully kitted out in gangsta/goth spikes and tattoos when young children should not be exposed to such aspects until they can better comprehend displays of violence and the respecting limits of what self-expression/ body modification choices are. The police are the bad guys trying to stop the heroes from accomplishing dangerous plot-progressive acts. Traffic violence is seen as okay, bravery in driving is pushed more than the message of safety and actual training (older brother screaming at younger brother to MERGE into the lane than actually displaying any proper techniques). All these gripes seem superficial at first glance but it shows that the movie is more concerned about glorifying its own extreme messages than thinking of the sublimal messages and impact this will have on its young audience. Its just another 'take action don't care about the consequences' film.
