I read this as a sailor in 1978 on the MV Armadale. There were a few wartime seamen aboard and one , a stornawegian told me he remembered the Head boats. It was interesting to read.

I read this book many years ago as an ex soldier turned seaman during my own troubles with drink and the things that led me there, bit by bit. It's good reading.
