The Great Gatsby: 5⭐
In 1922, F. Scott Fitzgerald announced his decision to write this extraordinary, beautiful yet simple novel, for which he is best known.
A portrait of the Jazz age, Gatsby captured the spirit of the author's generation and earned itself a permanent place in American Mythology.
This is a story of a man who has immense hope in love, Jay Gatsby who fell in love with the young, louisville beauty Daisy Buchanan, five years before the novel begins, Daisy marries a extremely rich, brutal Tom Buchanan after impoverished Jay has not returned from his overseas service as officer.
After the war, Gatsby devotes himself himself to the persuit of money and persuit of Daisy. And there comes a character Nick carraway who was the neighbor of Jay and acted as a chorus throughout.
Lavish parties were thrown by Gatsby in a hope that one day Daisy will appear and when she does, events unfold with the tragic drama. This is a story of Gatsby's rise to glory and eventual fall from Grace.
This is a short novel with great plot. I was obsessed with the Gatsby's character throughout the novel. His way of calling his friend, 'Old Sport!', made a remarkable impact on his character. His hope in love, that one day, he'll be United with his love, made me sad...
Best line from the book: "I hope she'll be a fool...that's the best thing a girl can be in this world, a beautiful little fool." - Daisy Buchanan♥️
