Wonderful, nostalgic authentic film that had me close to tears numerous times, Branagh’s production of ‘Belfast’ passed the ultimate test - the praise of a Belfast audience - to receive a round of applause at the end. A fantastic performance by all of the cast members but the real star of the show is Branagh himself who, despite leaving Belfast at 9, recreated the humour, resilience and courage of those who lived through these dark times. I was born in Belfast in 1958 and was one of the younger people in the audience. If the man himself had been there he would have got a standing ovation. A wonderful tribute from one of our own and the personal message to the people of Belfast just melted our hearts.
