Well, I watched it last night and found it bold and beautiful. However, I didn’t love the character it’s based on.
This movie is about a guy who was born blind, and his father didn’t wish to keep him because he was blind. Some of the illiterate and dumb native villagers even suggested getting rid of him because he seemed to be a burden.
But fate had a different story to unfold.
He grew up as a brilliant student. He wanted to study science hence he fought the case because there were no books for the visually impaired students at that time. He won the case and got the books introduced. Now, I won’t deny that many students facing the same challenges have access to education because he fought for the rights of all.
He got the opportunity to study in the US and after completing his education, he returned to India to start his own business. First, he trained visually impaired students in computers and later on started his own business with a cheque that he respectfully received from Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam.
Meanwhile, there is one more investor named Ravi who invests his money in Srikanth’s ideas, and they flourish abundantly. But, as his growth starts picking up the scale, he becomes arrogant, rude, and ungrateful. He starts disrespecting people and that shows how power and money changes people in the long run.
He tries to join Politics but ultimately comes back to his senses after realizing that his teacher was right about what if someday, he falls in his own eyes. He apologizes to the people whom he has hurt and starts working on his dreams once again. He falls in love with a girl who loves him for who he is, and, in the end, they get married after a courtship of 10 years and are firmly blessed with a baby girl.
What I didn’t like about his character is when I saw him in the podcast, he still sounded the same as if he was saying I wanted to give the job to people, so I didn’t want to work under someone else. But that tells me a lot about how much he must be respecting his own staff as they are working under him. As per me, he didn’t create jobs for them. Nope. He didn’t. He is just a medium by God placed in the right environment at the right time.
Nobody does anything for anyone. When people started worshipping him saying you are a God for me. I was like. What the heck? Get educated and place your faith in God, not humans. You can help someone but if you are taking pride or receiving it from others, that’s not help. That will soon turn into something else as they have shown apparently in the movie too.
But then again for this sort of thinking you need a lot of awareness about yourself and the environment you are in. You can thank people without considering them, God. They are not God. Period.
*I liked the fact that he returned the award at the end because an idea can come to anyone as in Srikanth's words and visually impaired people deserve to be considered equal and not to be looked at with a sigh of pity. Thank you.
