Largely disappointing, would not recommend it, racing scenes even were unrealistic and hamfisted. I’m a racing expert and fan and knew many of the central characters, drivers and engineers both, woe-betide the average punter whom is looking for a couple of hours entertainment. The highlight for me was the authentic racing transporters and spotting the Stig - Ben Collins as Stirling Moss. I think that sums it up 🏁

Gave up watching after about 10 minutes - nothing to do with the book in any shape form or fashion. Netflix must think we’re all gullible. This book was of the best Tom Clancy Jack Ryan books and provided the back story of one of the best characters, John Kelly / Clarke. Looks like original plot has been ignored, another made up CIA load of bollocks I decided I could do without, whereas the Clarke / Kelly story had a very human tale to tell - such a shame. Like tuning into a Superman film and finding out it’s actually a Batman story. Even worse than The Dark Tower.

The cover says ‘unputdownable’ and I agree, and the author is master storyteller. The Tolstoy references at the beginning and end top and tail nicely. One criticism is there are a fraction too many characters, I found myself having to backtrack a fair bit. Not enough Shanker ! Although I’m ok with London rhyming slang I still haven’t worked out Bunsen, Shanker’s name for Strike. New character Polworth is gold. Excellent story well told - the mutual attraction of Strike and Robin continues to fascinate and frustrate equally. Bring on the next instalment please Ms Rowling!
