A very underated movie in my view. Treat Willaims (who I NEVER have been a fan) was great as the wise cracking, cool as a cucumber hero and Famke Janssen never been sexier (well, not as sexy as "Lord Of Illusions"). The monster is great with the mouths within mouths tentacles. The show stopper is when one of the half digested characters falls out of one screaming in agony still gives me chills. Lots of action, laughs, bad guys to hate and a very Lovecraftian monster. What more could anyone ask??

I first saw this movie about 60 years ago and I have to admit it still holds up. It is a combination adventure / detective story involving a Federal agent played by Dick Powell trying to break a world wide opium ring. The opening scene where Powell in pursuit of a suspected drug smuggling vessel is pretty gruesome even by today's standards when the slaves who harvest the poppies are sent to a watery grave when the anchor chain they are all shackled to is cut lose, dragging them over the side to their deaths. Lots of plot twists with the biggest held to end of the film. If I were to have a 'gripe' about this film is that a lot of it is told in narration by Powell to explain aspects of the complicated plot. Still an engaging & enjoyable film.

Sorta of a ramped up "X Files" with better effects. I'd probably enjoy it more if not for the intrusive soundtrack drowning out all the dialogue. Take it down to a 5 on the sound board, fellas, unless the scripts suck that much and you're trying to hide how bad they are.

I'm 71 years old and I've many horror & sci-fi films under my belt and I have to say this is one of the stupidest film I have ever seen. None of it is believable, the plot is contrived and I'm trying to think of why any of these people would want to be in it aside form the pay check. It certainly wasn't to advance their careers. I'm mainly pissed about because I burned up a free rental certificate on Dish but I guess it was better than burning 10 bucks if it ever showed up in the cinemas (remember those?)

Confusing, boring, and barely audible over the mumbling behind masks and intrusive sound track.. Glad I didn't jeopardize my health by going to see this mess at the cinema. All I lost was a free pay per view coupon from my cable provider and +2 hours of my lifetime.

I can't believe that this show has 89% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The very first story based on a tale by Stephen King is the only one of note. The rest are just a yawn fest of boring, tepid and moronic storytelling. I realize that it is supposed to be 'over the top' and a nod to the comic book's that the show is based, but it doesn't even come close. To think I ALMOST subscribed to Shudder to see this series makes me give a sigh of relief that I saved my hard earned cash for better things. Hopefully HBO's "Lovecraft Country" will fill the void this turkey has created.

I am still trying to figure out why this movie was called "The Call Of The Wild" since it departs considerably from the novel on which it is based. Very much a kiddie film (which isn't a bad thing) I was surprised by the audience reactions of oldsters (like me) who thought Buck (the dog) was live action and not CGI as were just about any other animal in this movie. Having said that, it is moderately entertaining and I'm happy to see that Harrison Ford has been in a film far superior than his left outing the demise of Star Wars.

More "sci-fi" nonsense from a director with the mentality of a fifteen year old totally eschewing rational thought, logic or even continuity that would befuddle even the most forgiving viewer. If I was paid a million dollars every time some yelled "Hold on!", I'd have enough to balance the national debt. The CGI looks like CGI and that ain't good. The plot is jam packed with contrivances that are cringe inducing in their total lack of originality and sappiness. I was sad to see Halle Berry fighting to keep a straight face through this mess so I can only imagine Emmerich had something on her to make her appear in it.
