Just Mercy lays bare the systemic racial injustice that continues to pervades our criminal justice system. It is at times infuriating and heartbreaking. But Just Mercy is not just a movie about criminal justice, race, and systemic corruption. It is also an invitation to transform the conversation we have in America regarding criminal justice, race, and systemic corruption. It tells a story that inspires grace and gratitude in the face of anger, fear, hatred, and intolerance. Look for Michael B. Jordan and Jaimie Foxx to walk the red carpet as Oscar nominees and possibly as Oscar winners. Kudos to Destin Daniel Cretton and Andrew Lanham for a superb screenplay.
