Outer Worlds is fun and very reminiscent of Fallout. Most of these other reviews will get into the how and why of it, and I agree with them. The only thing I’ll say is that there is not much in the way of enemies and weapons/armor. Didn’t like how there are like 3 creature types and the only consistently evil people you see are mauraders and outlaws (unless you go shooting up neutral people). Armor and weapons are pretty bland too, in the sense than wearing heavy vs medium vs light armor doesn’t make much of a difference, since I have light armor that has a lot more armor than heavy armor, and they’re similar levels.
Overall these little aspects of the game fall short of Fallout quite a bit in my opinion. But what this game does better is the fighting is great! Feels more like a proper FPS mechanically than FO does (I rarely fight until Fallout without VATS engaged, but in OW I find myself half the time playing without the time dilation effect on).
I give it 3/5 because there should have been a lot more variety and purpose in creatures, weapons, and armor. It’s still a fun game and I would recommend playing especially if you enjoy Fallout.
