The Swedes are at it again.
First Mojang created Minecraft, which is still a big hit today, and now Iron Gate Studios has created this viking-themed, co-op, procedurally-generated survival game. With over 200 hours invested into this game, even though it's still in Early Access, and uncommonly polished for an Early Access game, I can confidently say they really nailed it with Valhiem.
It stands out from the other survival games because it takes out those tedious survival systems. It's very easygoing, and even death is very forgiving.
Crafting is very easy.
Building is amazing, although the only drawback is needing a workbench to build your buildings every 10 feet.
Sailing feels just like LoZ: Windwaker, which makes it very enjoyable. The boss battles are sure to keep you on your toes, and driving you to build better gear as you progress through the purgatory of Valhiem. The graphics are phenomenal, and reminds me of PS1 graphics, with great visuals. I think the low poly, low resolution adds to the charm of the game, like Minecraft. It really goes to show that not every game needs to have "4K textures running at 120 fps, with godrays, and raytracing" to make it look beautiful. Multiplayer is so simple, and the game is slightly better if you play with friends
Overall, even in singleplayer, it's a very good game. From crafting, survival mechanics, boss battles, sailing, and more, it's definitely going to keep you hooked for hours on end.
