I am a fan of the book series and historical romance in general. I must admit, I did not expect much before watching the show. I feared they changed too much from the book or that the story will not translate well into the screen. My fears were unfounded! The show captures the essence the book series and allure of the historical romance in general. The innocence, the whiff of scandal, the swooning! And the crazy hilarity of it all. I only plan on watching the first episode but couldn't put down my phone and watched everything in one sitting! When is the next season?! The plot loosely followed The Duke and I and also gave brief introduction to future storyline. Thought there are some 'new' factors added, it did not change the story and gave more to the complexity of the story. Nicely done. Phasing is good. Not too fast nor slow. I am quick to click on the next episode once one ends. It is that exciting! The actors are splendid. The trailers did not give them justice. Everyone is charming (except for one character, but I guess it's part of character development). I also doubted the casting at first. Not because of POC cast(they are perfect), but how the ABC brother(Anthony, Benedict, Collins) does not look like what I imagined from the book. Now though, I believe the casting is good, if not perfect. I am excited to see more from them. Thank you to the producers and crew that made this series as perfect as can be. Hope to see the rest of the Bridgertons take the center-stage on screen.
