The simple, yet poignant storyline and the slow pace reminded me of Love Jones, but the stark difference was the on-screen chemistry between Issa Rae and Lakeith Stanfield. They are two very talented (although I believe that Issa is better suited to rom-coms as in serious dramas her range appears limited. Lakeith on the other hand has played many different characters and it is very evident in this film as he brought more depth to his character compared to Issa) and very good looking actors who look great together but lack the romantic chemistry needed for such a film. I believe that if the passion, eroticism, intensity, heat and urgency was there between the two, this movie would have left a very different impression on me.
