I'm sorry but this drama was very mid. I don't know if Goblin has ruined me, but I feel like I rarely see dramas handle the "past lives" theme well. The pacing of this show is off. It moved fast but painfully slow at the same time. I definitely think it would have benefitted from having a 16 eps arc instead of 12. I didn't read the webtoon, but hearing that it was based on one made sense. I felt like the writers were trying to hit all the points in the story. Like a brief introduction of the lead, how they met, how she died, how they meet again, so on and so on. On paper the story is soild, but in reality it wasn't enough. They gave us all the necessary information to tell the story effectively but it lacked emotional depth. Not only do the characters feel one dimensional, but so does the story. I love the lead actors so much but they had NO chemistry. And there isn't much for any of the actors to work with. I feel like everyone did the best they could, but the drama needed more time to really ground us into the story and the characters' lives. I feel like they wrote this drama thinking everyone who watched it, would've already read the webtoon and I didn't, so it fell flat. It's not unwatchable. It has a great beginning, but I had to skipped through the last two eps because I truly didn't feel like I was missing anything. Anywho, looks like I'm the minority on this one and everyone likes it. So maybe it's just me.

I was really excited to watch this drama when I saw the actor from The Glory would be in it. I enjoyed him in that drama. I've also been a really big fan of dramas that pair a younger actor and an older actor as the leads. Being that they are mother and son, I was pretty excited to see something different. (I tend to watch romance dramas) I ADORED this drama. The two lead actors had really great chemistry as mother and son. It's such a beautifully written story. A lovely journey with a sad but happy ending. The last eposide ruined me then put me back together again. I've never laughed, cried, and screamed in anger so much in my life. It has the classic K-drama troupes (childhood trauma, loan sharks, higher ups taking advantage of the poor, and that gold ol' revenge arc) but this drama offers so much more to its characters, and therefore, to us as viewers. This drama felt like a Good Bad Mother. Oftentimes, it felt like a warm hug and sometimes it felt like a bitter cold shoulder. I thought the ebbs and flows of the story was relateable and nicely done. But I LOVE that the characters, praticularly the mother, progression wasn't linear. Even when she made the decision to be a better mother she still lost her way sometimes, and that's very human. I think it made me love her so much more. I could go on about this drama forever. I'm not sure if any of this made sense. I feel like this is just word vomit at this point. Lol I just really loved this drama. Every aspect of it from the romance to the mystery to the healing of family relationships were beautifull written, shot, and acted. There was not one scene or moment that felt too much or boring. Every single character to every single word had it's purpose. I CANNOT wait to watch this again!

I'm going to be honest, I'm not a huge fan of Nam Joo Hyuk or Suzy when it comes to their acting, so I wasn't in a rush to watch it. But since it got so much viewership and I heard wonderful things about the second lead, I decided to give it a try. As expected, I fell hard for the second lead, but I do in every drama. It's kinda impossible to not fall for him when the entire first episode is about him and his connection with the female lead. Even so, the beginning episodes of this show were AMAZING! I can't say that Suzy and Nam Joo Hyuk acting was bad, their chemistry wasn't the best, but I don't even know if the show really called for it to be. I really feel like they played Suzy's character. She wasn't given much to work with. They spent a lot of time developing the guys, but not her. SPOILER! Her freaking dad died (I BAWLED) and I swear it was never mentioned again or used as a device for her to want to succeed. They kinda did a little in the beginning but that's really it. The last like four or so episodes were trash. They time-jumped and after that, I promise you I stopped caring. If it wasn't about the second lead and her grandma, I probably wasn't even paying attention. It was kinda like when you're talking to someone and you run out of things to talk about, so you kinda just find anything to do. The last few episodes were like that. It deserves four stars for me because I binged the first half of the drama in days. And before this drama, I had no idea who Kim Seon Ho was, but I do now.
