Poor casting. And no humor or joy at all. Dour, sullen, dull group. Jesus can barely speak above a flat, hoarse whisper, no charisma or mystery to him and he is weatherbeaten and tired looking- looks more like fifty than 33! Mary the mother, looks like a middle aged New Yorker with a veil covering her pale, round white face. Mary Magdalene shines above the rest, but that is not saying much-as she is humorless, mspeaks with weird stilted accent, and maintains a strange, pained expression —and way too American for the part. Aside from that, the plot is tedious and does not convincingly deliver on its feminist theme.
