It is quite convenient that Clint Eastwood chose to make this movie at this particular time. He uses this movie as a vehicle to try to vindicate Trump: he portrays the FBI as a corrupt, fumbling agency; the media as publishing “fake news” and he makes a direct correlation between Peter Struk and Lisa Paige via the Atlanta reporter and the FBI agent. It is obvious that Eastwood made this movie to bolster Trump’s claim of a “witch hunt” and “fake news” and to justify Trump’s bullying of Lisa Paige. The acting in this movie is suburb, however, the timing of this movie is so obviously political.
Mr. Eastwood, your motives for making this film at this time in history are so transparent; you might as well tattoo Trump’s face to your back like Roger Stone tattooed Nixon’s face to his back. You are a brilliant film director, but you should keep your politics out of your work. It is incomprehensible that you put your film career at risk to defend a corrupt president.
I will think twice before I ever pay to see another Clint Eastwood film.
