Hummer Team, a company known for their Famicom ports of 16-bit games like Super Mario World and Donkey Kong Country, actually created a decent port of Sonic the Hedgehog.
Somari (the Adventurer) is, in my honest opinion, a really decent port of Sonic the Hedgehog (a 16-bit game) on the Famicom (an 8-bit console). There are a few flaws like stiff controls and no checkpoints but I could unironically play this game for a few hours.
Not only does the game include the Spin Dash, an ability introduced in Sonic 2, but the 8-bit graphics (mostly seen in Marble Zone and Star Light Zone) recreate a 16-bit atmosphere.
The game is often seen as a cheap, rushed bootleg of Sonic but, once again, I could enjoy playing this. The music chip, which isn't the greatest, is used in other Hummer Team games but when used in certain songs, it can actually sound quite nice.
Overall, I like this game and I think it deserves another chance to be liked.
