Although the soundtrack is gorgeous, everything else falls flat. Immediate plot holes are visible if you pay attention your first viewing, and the ending is not justified in the slightest. The Light Fury is a sexist trope in a world full of strong, realistic female characters. The commentary in the artbook states that "In general, it's more difficult to create a female character than it is to draw a male. For a female, any incorrect line and the shape can go wrong very quickly. We had to control all the shapes while keeping her both powerful and graceful so that she didn't fall too much into the reptilian category, like a lot of dragons", and "We wanted to explore how the Light Fury would walk and how to make her feel like a female... [her] legs are closer together and she walks more elegantly. She is always graceful and controlled." This movie also has very tasteless humor, that is almost always cringy. It is a running gag that Snotlout (a 21 year old man) is trying to get with his friend's mom, Valka (a 41 year old woman, that lost her husband just one year prior). If you want to entertain yourself with airbrushed visuals, a standard damsel in distress character, and plot holes, then go ahead.
