Best TV Detective Crime/Justice/Human Character series ever. Finely drawn characters... some you like, some you don't, but even they have redeeming features. Complex - but not overly so - plots. "Life" often intrudes, just like it does in real life. Plenty of thrills, plenty of suspense and plenty of edge of the seat action. Can't wait to see Series 7 on BBC4. Hope they repeat series 6 (and maybe 5 too) first.

Superb. Great performances from the leads. Neatly transforms from survival movie to horror/thriller. A few plot holes, but none below the waterline. Builds suspense carefully in the last half hour. The tension is almost palpable. Most will comment on the final scenes, but they were no more than the ultimate step the movie had been building toward.

A poor facsmile of a horror movie. Truly idiotic behaviour from the campers. I was almost kind of glad they got caught. And those masks! They seem to appear in every horror movie nowadays. Best go back and watch the 2003 version.

A disappointment. Lacked the tension of the book. Skimmed through the emotions that made King's story. The book is about Danny's fight with alcoholism, the plot is just a vehicle. Mike Flanagan got this the wrong way round and made it too episodic. Shame, I loved his "Haunting Of Hill House"... watched it 3 times now.

Huge disappointment. Pointlessy retreads so much of Carpenter's original and too many - even within the context of a horror movie - implausible moments... A house-made-fortress with a glass panelled front door? Myers hiding in the back of the car even though the keys are in the ignition? Etc.
