I think the humor content of people has moved to a different level that laughs out only on adult jokes and that's why so many negative reviews. We watched the movie, not to analyse but to relax ourselves on a weekend and we thoroughly enjoyed the movie. There were some scenes of instant comedy. It's a tough job to create a 2 + hrs full time comedy movie, and total dhamaal has succeeded quite a lot at it. The children in the theatre had many ROFL moments. It was fun. A must watch!!

Rightly said, hard to believe it's from the same director as toilet ek prem katha. The issue taken up was ohk but the script itself doesn't take the issue seriously. One moment, shahid will be acting, rather overacting trying to be funny... Next moment he ll have tears in his eyes.. Defence lawyer was there only because she applies fair and lovely.. courtroom looked like college campus, arguments were cheap comedy rather than solid dialogues, and the judge looked more stupid than funny like she's a proxy. With such background, the social impact becomes very dilute. The anti-govt note was overclearly put and irritatingly emphasised again and again.
