It’s the cast! Daniel Macdonald is a revelation. You can see everything in her face. She is the center of the series. Alternately, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson is absolutely terrifying as a menacing villain even more so since I’ve only seen him playing really nice guys before. The comparisons to Memento and Fargo are apt, but the writing is so well balanced that I had trouble deciding who was “good” or “bad”, and the actors portrayed that ambiguity effectively. A bit slow toward the beginning but stick with it. It’s worth it.

Except for the character that repeatedly goes into dangerous situations without a weapon or backup, this was a thoroughly enjoyable and nuanced thriller. I would give it 5 stars - acting, story, etc.- but the ending was absolutely awful. Recommended but beware the last episode. (“WTH. That’s it?!”)
