It took a little while in a totally unplanned Friday evening TV binge before I got into the basic, never wavering, relentless super as normal, over-several-tops premisses... and the Tongue-In-CheekyKrazyness (or the TICK...(: ... dynamic). In Season 1, Episode 9 (My Dinner With Android), the Tick says to a robotic character counterpart/opponent), “Soooo, if I‘m glocking your spiel, you’re saying the way I follow destiny is like the way you follow programming... holly ravioli”... or, “...say, have you ever read Good Intentions, it’s the stirring tale of one dog’s search for the bone of self fulfillment... spoiler... it was buried in his backyard all along”. And that’s just a sample of the lively meta-socio-techno-4th-wall-self-aware banter. There are some other show aspects that seem a bit cliche-oriented towards demographic commercial success, and some unnecessary language, gestures, and attitudes to guns and related gun imagery... (think the original 60’s Batman TV show updated, and now on WhamBamCableSteroids). A lot of the humor is hit-you-over-the-head subtle, presented in that ever present TICK style. Happy Binging... and remember, in this show, The Tick-Talks... deadpan funny.
