I have to say I disagree with changing language as Whoopi and Joy suggested on the June 24th show. Instead of changing the expression “the Great White Way” to “bright way,” we need to EDUCATE people of the origins of the expression. As for white sheep/black sheep and other similar expressions (which have nothing to do with race), why must every expression be seen in terms of race! Some people will read something racial into everything when it’s just not there. That’s like wanting to ban the song White Christmas (which is about snow if one listens to the lyrics). I almost always agree with Whoopi and Joy, but I don’t agree with reading some racial meaning into language that just isn’t there.
