Original, poignant and well performed. Plus, great scenes from a restaurant kitchen.

Nothing new. Seen these story too many times. We were bored despite all the badly executed fight sequences. A real disappointment, alas. $200mill making this? An astonishing waste. Evans so badly miscast and Gosling needs a new manager. STAT!

Fine performances, no extra attention on Molly Bloom’s well-known, but in this case, incidental, love life. She’s but 5’3”, but Jessica Chastain seems like a looming and charismatic powerhouse figure in every movie. She’s made a few missteps in her cinematic choices, and this may not be her greatest work, but the movie is deftly directed, at times thrilling and always interesting with JC is in nearly every frame.

Just deadly dull. Such a fan of Julia Garner, but this is just soooo slow—and badly performed by nearly everyone in it—including, alas, Garner. Was Ozark an anomaly for Garner? Time will tell.

Absolutely off-the-chain performance from Chastain. Surprised that most reviews didn’t want more of Tammy Faye’s last years, when she was married to Roe, had a talk show with Jm J Bullock and faced terminal illness so bravely. She was no hero, but she was kind and embraced gay people as the same as she was and loved equally by a G-d she truly did believe in. Garfield didn’t do it for me quite as much, as the character didn’t seem filled-in as much as he might have been. A rotten guy, and Garfield didn’t seem up to the gig. But the wildly gifted Chastain is so riveting as she gives it her all to bring humanity to that silly but fundamentally decent and open/hearted person underneath those layers of makeup she hid behind. Funny enough, the otherwise fine makeup artist did NOT capture Tammy’s eyes that well!
