Sacha Albarda – Google

First movie I went to see in a cinema after COVID and for good reason. I’m a big fan of Alex Garland and boy did this movie not disappoint! Kirsten Dunst without make-up Made me feel old, as I will always remember her as a baby vampire. The violence felt real and never exploitative- the battle scenes on American soil felt surreal at times and the battle-hardened characters we encounter felt convincing. Great little movie and somewhat of a cautionary tale. Polarization and division is fueled by the media on an unprecedented scale. No doubt this inspired the screenwriters.

I fast-forwarded my way through all the teenage/girlie angst stuff and there is a LOT of that, unfortunately. I love post-apocalyptic, horror fiction and there are a lot of elements they incorporated that are interesting. There are plenty of strong female characters in the show (I chuckled at the "College" reference), but for some reason the high-school drama is now a part of the Resident Evil series. If I see one more teenager screaming "I hate you!" at her dad I'm going to have an aneurism...
