It used to be an absolute class game, having spent many hours of school playing it I grew attached to it. However the countless hours spent have all gone to nothing, now that you have to pay an extortionate subscription each month to play a map that is half decent. The free map has about 8 different locations, all being rendered in poor quality. You'd be better off going onto google maps and smashing the random button 1000 times than playing the free version of GeoGuessr, at least you will be more entertained. It is pointless using the website if you're not willing to empty your pockets. I do have to mention though, you get one free go on any high quality map per day, which I guess cushions the blow some what, but does not satisfy my needs when playing this game. I really do hope that they do go back on their decision to make it a subscription, as even a one off payment for it is sort of justified, maybe £5, but a subscription can easily put off the majority of their audience.
