Not the greatest movie. Dialogue is very amateurish. And Ruby Keeler was no actress. Her lines sound like something from a high school play. Good thing she could dance.

There is little or no explanation of how and when the film goes from slavery to modern times at the beginning. So what happened to her brand? Was the beginning really part of her kidnapping?The dinner scenes seemed to show how arrogant and rude that one of the characters is and full of herself. Those were unnecessary scenes. Although the main character was well portrayed the film itself was too disjointed.
