If you are familiar with the Far Cry series, and mostly enjoy it, then you will enjoy this entry. It is much of the same, but that is not necessarily a bad thing. Taking place in Yara, the map is huge and there are always new places to explore. It is really scenic to look at and the graphics are great. The game has a ton of side missions, which are engaging, but you are not forced to complete them in order to beat the game. The missions are repetitive which does make it stale over time, but the action does enough to keep you engaged. With checkpoints, treasure hunts, etc, I found ways to take a break from missions to just grind and have fun. However, I had a few issues with the game. For starters, it was extremely glitchy. The screen would go still for a few seconds in the middle of a battle and then unpause and then pause again and it happened often. While Dani, the main protagonist is a huge upside, the story was really lacking. The characters are very likable however. The game introduces amigos, which are animal friends you have on your adventure and can help distract guards or fight back, and while it is cool for a while, I didnt find myself really needing their help as I leveled up. They also introduced supremos, which is basically a power up that can shoot missiles at planes, or disable alarms or tanks. The thing is, the game was mainly the same throughout so I did not feel the need to change my guns or supremos often. I kept the same load out most the time. If they had a wider range of enemies or missions, I would of made use of the others. The other issue is I felt so over powered that tanks or helicopters, which stand as more difficult, became a breeze. It took some of the fun and challenge away. The weapons/guns in the games are great and have a wide range of choices if you want to use stealth. You can customize them to shoot poison, flames, or have enemies turn on each other. You can choose from a bunch of revolver weapons as well, which include flamethrowers, missiles, CD launchers, nail gun and more. Overall, I enjoyed my experience. Yes, it was not perfect, but it was a fun game that allowed me explore a beautiful Yara with mindless action. 7.5/10
