I am VERY surprised this is based on a true story! I love learning about the world wars in the section of literature and books called Historical Fiction! I wanted to make my daily reading bigger, (I already read a book 30 minutes every day, right now I'm reading The Call of The Wild by Jack London) so I decided I would read 1 page and add 2 pages the nextday and 3 pages the day after, and so on. So I went to my browser and searched up 'historical fiction'. It asked with age I wanted and I clicked my age group. Then it showed me the books they suggest. The Island of the Blue Dolphns was the last one, so I had to scroll down. This was not about the world wars, but I was deeply intrigued into why the book came up on a suggestion about historical fiction. I search up and sure enough, It tells me its a real story of a Nicoleno Native named Juana Maria who was isolated for 18 years on an island. I remember hearing our teacher read the description of the book, and I thought it was some fictional adventure story, because either the publisher didn't add in the 'based on a true story' part or the 'based on a true story' part wasn't in full detail. I was thinking of reading A Wrinkle in Time instead, but because my mom didn't like the movie very much, and because i have learned about this intriguing story, I think I'll read this one every day. I hope I enjoy!
