I read and enjoyed the book several years ago. recently re-read it and was drawn to check the movie DVD from the library for a Sunday afternoon show. It was okay . . . very touching moments when his wife said her good byes, and again, when she welcomed him home. The book was far superior to the flick (as Katz woulda' called it).
