haven't watched TV, but I've read the manga at least 40 times! I have hundreds of manga volumes, but this the only one for which I bought two copies, one to archive and one to read. There's tons of items that will interest any otaku. There's at least 20 panels which contain her very subtle, sometimes tiny items. After all this time reading it, I just discovered another Nakatani special. In the first chapter when Touko tells Yuu she doesn't mind getting her own tea, her tea mug is very slightly off the perpendicular, but the tea surface exactly horizontal! And if you thought that was a mistake, Yuu's mug is exactly upright with the tea surface perfectly horizontal. Just one of many hidden-in-plain-sight scenes in BiY. Great stuff.
