Tea Leoni is always a mountain of charisma and she is one of the few actors who can sell a character this smart and capable. But man, her family is unrelentingly perfect, she never loses, her morals are never compromised, she cruise right through any familial obstacle completely unscathed and she wins every singe conflict she get into -- easily. It gets overbearing. She's basically the Ultimate White Woman living the ultimate vision of being a white. She and her family are rich, powerful, always right, highly educated, and even own horses. Ugh. She's more powerful than her husband but he's not threatened, completely supports her, has his own great job, is very handsome, never raises his voice, never cheats on her, they have a healthy sex life and most of all, he's perfectly happy playing second fiddle and making pancakes for the kids. Both Leoni and Tim Daly (her husband) have impeccable, unassailable integrity. Which doesn't sound like any Washington DC I've ever heard of. I mean, she's ex CIA, no less. C'mon.
It'd be nice to get a little more grime, more dirt, more complexity and more reality. But maybe that's me.
