I used to teach film studies to Transition Year students, all male. I would advise them, in advance, that we were going to watch an old movie, in black and white, with no sex or violence. The promise was that if anyone in the class didn't want to keep watching after 30 minutes, we would abandon the film. Over about 16 years with different classes, not once did a student want to stop watching 12 Angry Men. Not once. What an education in scriptwriting, acting and direction.
