An absolutely bonkers film, with Boris Karloff and Bela Lugosi at the top of their game as rival madmen. While not a masterpiece of direction, with some sections that drag even by the standards of the 1930s, the Art Deco design and riveting performances by the two leads, as well at least one scene that was as violent as anything for another two decades, make this film is sublime watch.
