This is a beautiful Christmas story, with all the Godden magic. Heartwarming. I read it every Christmas.

Lavish and pretty and..not like the book. The strong messages and character building moments were gone. Fairytale Disney moments added and Laura Dern insipid and saccharine. Jumpy and confusing with no character building, the big moments came and went and meant nothing at all. Characters forgettable and some, like Laurie just all wrong. Major moments missed. A tragedy really, a whole new generation of little women watching a film with the strength, feminism, bravery and beauty taken entirely from it.
