A terrific love letter to the unsung heroes of film. It's blending of action, practical effects, and humor give it its unique identity. This identity is what separates it from countless other 80's action flicks.

A paranoia-inducing anti-war horror film that shocks with its gruesome imagery, as well as frequent narrative misdirects. An unwavering sense of unease and confusion permeates throughout, never allowing the audience to feel in control or able to decipher Jacob’s actual reality.

A lovely surprise of a haunted house film. A genuine father-son relationship adds weight to its scares as you can't help but become invested in them. While exploring their relationship takes its time, it is done in service to its smart and satisfying psychological scares.

A lack of chemistry between its Marvel alum and subpar action stop Point Blank from being the buddy cop film it's lauded as. Filled with contrived dialogue, a resistance to allowing character growth, and a predictable “twist” make this another Netflix dud.

Those with a weak stomach be warned, Laid To Rest is perhaps the goriest slasher out there. Its brutal practical effects smooth over its several narrative rough edges. I’m surprised Chrome Skull isn’t a bigger name in horror given his iconic look & character mythos. Fans of gory slashers will dig this.
