I'm originally from Eastern NC but lived in this 'neck of the woods' for 'a spell' so I knew these people. Didn't realize anyone did any yodeling in these parts, though. Yodeling happens a bit more west like Spivey's Corner. Pilot Mountain, Replacements, Cheerwine, the church social scene...were all so familiar. I personally enjoyed the movie.Parts of NC are forgotten by time. Everyone works for or aspires to work for same company. Church and family is literally EVERYTHING. Simple life. Hopes and dreams for anything better dashed pretty early in life. And yes, the painter's accent was a bit off. The writer should have better explained all the sadness and anger.
