Virtually a perfect Horror Movie.
The Characters act rationally, are well acted and understandable.
It's shot brilliantly, in a way creates a deep atmosphere of dread which is probably what you want in a horror movie isn't it?
The Thing's effects are also extremely impressive, they've aged better than CGI Work in cases and are a reason to watch the film all on their own. Honestly there's not really much to say that hasn't been said before. This is a damn good film, the best thing to say about it is that I can't think of anything bad to say about it. The biggest shame about this film is that it didn't do well financially when it came out.
