I don't get the low rating for this film. This was a literal masterpiece. George Miller did it again, but this was more elevated. This film had so much emotion and layers to each character, even with Dementus which was interesting. (BETTER THAN FURY ROAD)
SPOILERS
At the end of the film, Furiosa and Dementus finally reunite. We see her anger and desperation of wanting her family (mom) back. We also discover that Dementus has a family too which was interesting to see for a villain arc. The ending was perfect, he died nice and slowly, starving to death under a tree. That was what Furiosa wanted.
We also get to see the political side of things, like the poor and Immortal Joe towering over them, like in Fury Road. When Dementus confronted Immortal Joe, that was such a treat to see. To see the difference and the clashing personalities between the two of them, and of course, young Furiosa when finally confessed that Dementus was not her father with such confidence was so satisfying.
So many new and bizzare characters introduced. We get to see Immortal Joe's companions with the most out of pocket costumes.
Some of the critics thought that seeing a lot of young Furiosa would draw you out, but it doesn't. This little girl was such an amazing actress and you could see the growth and pain. It made me a bit emotional when she had to watch her mom get tortured to death. It was so raw and real.
Another thing that was really painful to watch was another person she loved died in front of her eyes. Praetorian Jack and Furiosa had such a connection. It was not a friendship, but almost a partnership. They would risk their lives for each other. That is hundred percent love. Like when Jack almost died at the Bullet Farm in the truck. He did tell Furiosa to get in the car and escape, but instead, she saved him.
Now, lets talk about the action. Like it was chef's kiss. The stunts, the choreography, and the uniqueness of it as a whole was just whimsical and fantastical. There were some close up shots which made it fast pace and also a bit quirky which matched the style of the film (LOVED THE USE OF SPED UP MOVEMENT AGAIN) And of course, the cinematography, wow. The endless blanket of the wasteland and the colour palettes were so enhanced and immersive.
I would ramble on forever about this film, but I can't write that much.
THIS FILM DESERVES A FREAKING OSCAR. 5/5!
I also know why this film is not rated higher. There is nothing woke about this haha!
