Growing up on real artists in musicals such as Hello Dolly, South Pacific, Sound of Music, Oliver, King and I, Guys and Dolls, etc... uh, LA La Land will never rank up there with them. Sinatra, Kelly, Astaire, Reynolds, etc are many levels superior. La La Land came off like a college theatrical production, more of a black box or experimental lab than a mainstage. There were moments, there were a few aspects, but not near enough to redeem the show. Stone and Gosling are better than this performance. Nice cameo by John Legend. This may have been a better theatrical without the music. The music is fair, the acting fair, but the 2 together just doesn't work. How it got that many awards is beyond me. My jaws are sore from yawning. 2 hours of my life I will never get back. 😖☹
