I watched Three Pines season 1, having never heard of the books, or the author. I enjoyed the programmes and hoped there would be more.
Then l read the first Three Pines novel, and the next and the next. I actually read the last book first, and then went back to the beginning. From these l get a totally different feel for Three Pines and the cast of characters Alfred Molina is an excellent Gamache but there is no indigenous peoples thread in the books l have read.. And the cosy village of Three Pines is not the one we see portrayed on screen. I can understand the series being pulled.. It happens. But what we see on screen is not what we read in the novels. Be warned!!

Well filmed, well acted. Carrie's morals are lax and her dress sense is poor. I have a sneaky feeling she doesn't shower much and her hair needs washing. But it's gripping stuff.

It's an intelligent, thoughtful and superbly well acted piece. Good dialogue, wonderful facial expressions.

Reasonably faithful to the novel. Muriel is a great character, played well. Macon is so sad, so neutral, he needs shaking, waking, and warming and Muriel is, surprisingly, the one to do it.
