JUMONG is the best historical KD I've ever watched. I was absolutely satisfied that it became difficult to watch another KD whether sageuk, romance, romcom, suspense thriller or whatever drama afterwards. Very well written, masterful direction, skillful cinematography, heart-stirring OST, and a cast of brilliant actors who executed their individual roles flawlessly. 81 episodes yet I've watched Jumong repeatedly over the years. One unforgettable Korean drama.

Absolutely amazing romantic drama! Storyline is simple but captivating. Genius writing by Yoo Young-Ah with poetic undertones & heartfelt dialogue. Masterful direction by Park Shin Woo. Brilliant cast of actors who all portrayed their characters flawlessly whether lead or support role. Song Hye Kyo & Park Bo Gum both delivered stunning performances & had great on screen chemistry. SHK plays the role of Cha So Hyun, a woman in her mid 30s who had once been married, been divorced & is now CEO of Donghwa chain of hotels. So Hyun was brought up sheltered, had never dated & was forced into an arranged marriage to a rich & powerful chaebol. PBG assumes the character of 28-year old Kim Jin Hyuk, an ordinary guy from a loving family, he is kind, understanding & always positive. The lead pair met as strangers while in Cuba & Jin Hyuk ended up being a new hire at Donghwa Hotel's PR department leading to many more encounters that drew them together. Their gap in age & in their status in society plus their positions as employer - employee of Donghwa Hotel made it awkward & challenging for a budding romance. As a viewer, you get hooked & you root for their love to succeed. The antagonists in this drama, without any screaming nor violence, are such competent actors, they're so believable! Dazzling cinematography & adept sound techniques. Encounter is the best romance drama I've watched in years & will watch it again & again.
