The Beetlejuice character lacked the energy and humor he had in the original. He appeared watered down, not the charismatic figure he was. 30 years ago, Beetlejuice popped into each scene with over the top excitement much like Jim Carrey in The Mask, making us laugh. Throughout part 2, there were a couple chuckles, but nothing really funny.

Enjoyable and well acted across the entire cast. The pace was a bit of a whirlwind, I felt it was rushed to cover all the historical bases in a short period of time. The main plot seemed too simple, a compilation of newspaper headlines from over the years and never really slowing down to show us anything of depth or anything we didn’t already know. I felt like I was on Disney’s “Carousel of Progress” ride. Specially, with the makeup on some of the supporting cast looked more like cartoon characters than real people. A little distracting but it didn’t kill the movie. Dennis Quaid was excellent. Glad I watched it, could have been better.

***Spoiler*** Entertaining to watch but adds very little to the overall series. Typical good guys and typical bad guys (yawn). The plot gave me Battlefield Earth vibes with monkeys instead of aliens. The bad guy enslaves a bunch of innocent simpletons to further his evil plan. The hero stands up to the bad guy (against all odds) and ruins his day. Decent special effects, good acting. Boring plot.

Not sure how someone can rate a movie 5 stars without actually seeing the movie like others have however, I did actually watch the movie. A simple movie with a simple storyline. Starts out good and ends well, the hour in the middle is uneventful. Was clearly not a big budget project. The cinematography is creative at times but not enough to save the movie.

Nothing came at night. In fact, nothing ever came. My girlfriend is now banned from touching the remote control. This movie’s special-effects budget must’ve been $4.95. Great acting, no bump in the night.
